Rates and Information

Photography is both art and science — requiring expensive equipment and extensive expertise, neither of which is cheap. But the results are worth it — moments you can treasure for a lifetime.

Summer Special, 2008

Anyone who has ordered a print is eligible for waived minimums. That means portraits — and more — for less. Prints start at $3, and could potentially save hundreds of dollars. Been photographed, but want more? Order and save!

Addendum: Offer includes those affected by the Mother’s Day tornado — whether or not you’ve previously ordered a print. Heck, you’ve been through enough. Get some great photographs — of you, your family, or your place, post-storm — with no minimum charges and fantastic results. Get in touch…!

Hourly

For small projects, I’m available on an hourly basis: $125 per hour. This is ideal for a stand-alone portrait session or product photograph where you only pay for what you need. However, please understand that time is required after the actual photography session; usually, it takes just as long to finalize the photography and make files available as it does to do the actual session.

Note: An “offical” hourly contract requires a $250 minimum.

Note 2: In the past couple of months, a few folks have put interesting photography jobs on my plate that don’t involve cash — but, rather, barter. Got something other than cash in mind? I might still be interested; get in touch with details.

By the job

For larger projects, weddings, and events, it’s more economical to meet, discuss the project’s individual needs and demands, and agree on a package price for photography and finalization.

For weddings and events, if possible, it’s best to meet in the location the event will take place. While my equipment will cover a vast variety of locations — dark church corners to sunlit beaches, for instance — some require specialized equipment, attention, and⁄or additional photographers, and thus an extra charge. That said, I welcome creative challenges — you’re welcome to bring both wild ideas and a budget.

Galleries and prints

The best results from your photo session or event are posted to a gallery online, usually within days for small jobs and two to three weeks for larger jobs, weddings, and events. Then, peruse or purchase prints at your convenience.

Note the phrase “best results,” please — a wedding, for instance, may mean more than a thousand photos taken, far more than ultimately needed but necessary for technical (lighting, for instance) or artistic (two different versions of a pose, for instance) reasons.

Bride’s Maid Cools Off

Some photographers pack it all onto a disc and hand it off for you to deal with — I do not. Selecting and finalizing the best of the photos is important part of my process, and because I care deeply about the quality of your order, prints are only available directly from me.

However, I’ve chosen an extraordinary partner for that process: Zenfolio™. Prints are of fantastic quality, available in multiple sizes, with or without frame; purchased securely — right from the gallery — and shipped directly to your door. Better still, because of their buying power, items are very reasonably priced.

Note: By default, galleries are public, meaning anyone can browse through and⁄or order prints from your event. If you would prefer, galleries can be invite-only (publicly available, but only to those who know the address), or private (requires a password).

Book option

I got into photography by striving to be a better book designer — discovering along the way that I prefer doing photography as my “primary” occupation. But I still love designing books, and delight in turning a collection of event photographs into something treasured.

Creighton and Carolyn, Wedding and Events 2007

Books are available in two sizes, and are the antethisis of the expensive, leather-bound specialty album you buy one of — typically 70-100 pages, they’re softcover, full-color, include descriptions and captions, and, at $40-50 each, are affordable enough for guests to purchase or to give as gifts.

Add a book to your photography project for as little as $500. Ask for details or to see a sample when we meet.

Travel

Events and photo sessions within a 25-mile radius of Macon, Georgia, do not incur travel charges. However, I’m happy to photograph your event or wedding anywhere in the Southeast for a reasonable travel charge, plus expenses.

Note: maximum event duration: three days.

Extras

Need an advertisement to go with that great product photograph? Invitations and announcements for your wedding? I have almost twenty years’ experience in graphic design — including advertising, product design, catalogs, and, of course, books. Let me know how I can assist.

Thank you!

I look forward to working with you. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if I can answer any questions.
