In Maine, that is:

Ogunquit Beach, Across the River
The view from my room. Not too shabby, even in extreme wide-angle…;)
More over the next few weeks days. Thanks for checking back.
Update: ‘Nuther, from Sunday:

Perkins Cove Boats, Ogunquit
Definitely some emotion in this, well, homecoming (for lack of a better term). I didn’t expect being back in Maine — [...]

Tonight’s Cocktail Hour

August 22nd, 2008 · No Comments

Okay, let’s get this out of the way up front: I haven’t been posting — or photographing — enough recently.
But, there’s a good reason, one regular readers of this site know — equipment that’s not up to snuff. So some changes have been in order.
As of yesterday, those changes are nearly complete.
It’s meant selling my [...]

More Quickies

August 15th, 2008 · No Comments

Sorry for the lack of updates to the blog recently; been behind the work curve. On the positive side, my internet issues seem to have cleared up….

An interesting — and pretty accurate, IMHO — take on the photography business right now: The Cloud is Falling. Weddings, indeed…;)
Rolling Stone is switching to a “regular” magazine size. [...]

Been meaning to do a “Quickies” post for a while,

…but have been otherwise occupied. Thus, there are a few stacked up.
Next time you have a moment, pull up to the computer with your favorite beverage and enjoy:

Metallophile, my favorite font in a while — nice.
This has been around for a while, but it’s still a great storm photograph. Just wow.
Also from the NYT, When [...]

…was, as always, a great time.
Many thanks to Tagg and Angelic for hosting. Yeah, Angelic:

Couple of Quickies

June 6th, 2008 · No Comments

…for the weekend consumption:

The Online Photographer has an interesting post up on what might have also been my favorite digital camera — Sony’s 707. (For the record, I had an 828, as well — but it was exactly as Mike describes, ultimately leading me into Nikon territory.)
That same site also leads us to an editorial [...]

Fletch and Linda’s Baby Shower

May 27th, 2008 · No Comments

Update 2, Sunday morning (6/1): The balance of the photographs have been posted. The last set took longer than anticipated, as seating the guests of honor in front of a [very bright —Ed.] window meant more time developing the photographs of the gift-opening session. (Backlighting can be, uh, problematic.) 28 photos in all — enjoy.
Update: [...]

Memorial Day Blogging, Quickie Edition

May 26th, 2008 · No Comments

Long weekends are always supposed to be about catching up. Shame it usually doesn’t work that way.
Meanwhile:

Some amazing time-lapse photography from Alexey Titarenko, via Kottke.
Also from Kottke, something potentially relevant here in Macon: Time-lapse cherry trees. Yeah.
Maps of all the streets in the lower 48 states — no, not topography, not satellite shots, just the [...]

More “Quickies”

May 1st, 2008 · No Comments

A selection of things that have caught my eye recently:

Have you ever heard of a memristor? Get used to the term — it might well replace “transistor.” Seriously, this is huge. Ars on why.
A leftover from my book and graphic design days: Hefler Frere-Jones — aka Typography.com — on the ampersand. Nice.
Ars (again) on the [...]
