Let me please lead off with an — or, should I say, another — apology for taking so long. Since getting home from Maine, absolutely nothing has gone according to plan.
Well, in reality since long before that … but that’s another story. (Which I might even share someday…;)
Meanwhile, visible progress on the house has slowed [...]

Mucho behind on blog posts. Apologies. Been incredibly busy the past few weeks, mostly precluding the more “leisurely” activities.
Amongst which — for me, at least — includes blogging. Like I said, sorry.

I’ve gotten questions this week regarding what I mean when I refer to “a slightly different focus.”
Delighted to illustrate. Starting with a photograph that … doesn’t suck, actually:

The Nuts and Bolts (of a Garden Ornament)
Good composition, nice shadows, the bits of green are a plus, etc. Almost — almost — suggests a sense of something flying [...]

One word: Wow.
I didn’t expect the Maine/NY trip to impact me in the way it did.
However, “blown away” is not inaccurate. From nearly every part of Maine, which I’ve missed more than I realized, to long-lost friends and family — whose lives are well beyond what I expected — the past month or so has [...]

Hard to believe, but I’ve been here for almost two weeks.
One the one hand, I’m eager to get back to Macon. I miss my kids cats, my community, and my home. On the other, being here has been pretty magical.

Taking a break from photography tonight; tropical storm Hanna is also visiting Maine this weekend, and I’m stuck indoors.
Which means an opportunity to sort through the more than seventeen hundred shots taken so far. (Damn, that’s a lot.)

Started my trip down memory lane today, leaving Ogunquit, in the far southern part of the state, for where I went to college: the University of Maine, in Orono.
The UMaine campus is just north of Bangor, the last so-called “big” city before you head into the North Maine Woods — approx. 150,000 in the greater [...]
