On Savannah … and an Anniversary

Three years ago today, I borrowed my friend Gerald’s Canon Digital Rebel to get some “extra” shots from his wedding.
It was from that experience, without any doubt, that I realized the potential of today’s digital photography. [And only three years ago. My, how we've grown.... —Ed.]
Thus, it’s a great pleasure to use a digital photograph [...]

Great Cap to a Looooong Week

Update, Monday 6 Apr: Finally, finally got to the parade photographs this afternoon, only to be besieged with some sort of “unsupported image format” error. For cryin’ out loud — it’s always something. Back ASAP.
To call it a long week would be an understatement; aside from being sick last weekend, which completely upended the to [...]

Saturday Afternoon on Rose Hill

Gerald and I headed up to Atlanta Friday, mostly to check a specific camera store for some look-and-touch you just can’t get online — and he hit a great deal on something he’d been thinking about for a long time.
Thus, instead of spending the day wandering around Atlanta, we finished up our other stops quickly [...]

Plains, Americus, Andersonville, Preston, and Columbus, Georgia

Enjoyed a great photostroll with Gerald and Phillip last Saturday, starting with a quick stop in Preston, Georgia, followed by a longer-than-expected stop in Plains (home of President Jimmy Carter), Americus, and finally a shorter-than-expected stop in Andersonville. (We settled in just as they closed. Sheesh.)
It was especially interesting to visit the Carter visitor’s center [...]

Rose Hill Photostroll

Enjoyed wandering — and practicing — in and around Rose Hill Cemetery here in Macon.
Got a few I like, too:

Rose Hill Dec 08 – 14
Not the most original name, I’ll admit, but I didn’t feel like worry about naming each photograph tonight. Might revisit.
Meanwhile, another:

Rose Hill Dec 08 – 19
For a day with a 90% [...]

Catching Up, Part Two

Posted 18 November 2008 | By Giles | Categories: Photography, Shoots | Comments Off

The Saturday after First Friday, Gerald and I enjoyed a photostroll in downtown Macon.
Have to tell you: although not terribly long — 90 minutes, give or take — I enjoyed both revisiting downtown Macon in fall spendor and spending some photography time with a good friend. Thanks, Gerald.
Some decent results, too. My favorite:

Fall Line-Up
Taken at [...]

Independence Day, 2008

Posted 06 July 2008 | By Giles | Categories: Equipment, Personal, Photography, Photos I Like, Shoots | 1 Comment

As my blog readers know, I’ve been having some equipment problems recently. For Independence Day, however, my camera raised a flag and celebrated the long-overdue Unity — out of 446 photographs Friday (taken in about three hours of straight shooting), I kept 309, starred 185, and multi-starred 90. Remarkable. More: The first four-star images in, [...]

Not What Was Expected

An attempt at visual storytelling on the blog tonight. Enjoy.
Woke up this morning — far too early, but that’s another story — in Columbus, Georgia. I’d spent the night in the graciously-provided guest room of two of my very favorite people: Phillip and Neecee.
Okay, it was actually napping after doing a photoshoot and development tutorial [...]

Tonight’s Cocktail Hour

…was a great time. Thank you!
12 photos made the cut, including not only a great portrait of you, Heidi, but several borderline-humorous takes on my friends Craig, John, and Tom. Check ‘em out.
Yeah, I said Tom:

Tom and the Open Door Policy
With all due respect, sir: sorry, couldn’t resist…;)
Have to say: of all the great opportunities [...]
