Historic Macon’s Party of the Year
Update: Full set posted, 66 photographs in all.
Original post: Enjoyed the evening at the Historic Macon Foundation Party of the Year, held tonight at the former Karsten-Denson building on Third Street, downtown.
Which, while lacking air conditioning on the year’s first ninety-degree day (in April…!), was a great time. Further, this fantastic old space was perfect for the occasion: just the right size, decorated with just the right “look.” Well done.
Gerald and I took it on together; before things got going, we set up an area for portraiture, which he handled. I wandered and did more candid shots.
There was a Twenties theme, which included costumes — and a couple of cool cars parked outside.
Like this one. Or, should I say, this detail of one:

Old Wheels
Okay, I’ll admit to messing up the focus (was trying to get the “Ford” script), but still a nice shot. Not as good as this one, though:

Hart’s Hearse, Head-On
From the days when a grille meant something. (Thank goodness I’m not a bug, else that would be an ominous view indeed…!)
Meanwhile, inside, caught one of the folks behind tonight’s “gig” in masquerade — including an incredibly fake smile:

Lars, as (Part-Time) Gangster
Beware that expression — tonight, it meant he was about to shake you down (LOL). At least it’s a good cause…;)
Indeed, much enjoyed catching fun; for instance, these ladies were having a good time tonight, as demonstrated here — with more “genuine” smiles than the above:

Caught Having Fun (at the Party of the Year)
More than a few people dressed for the occasion, too:

Terrell Sandefur and (Tonight’s) Company
I was very glad to be along for the celebration. Thanks to Historic Macon for the invitation, and much appreciation to everyone who posed for a photograph tonight. Great time.
60+ more photographs to come early in the week posted (the gallery will be is here), then perhaps a back post and even a Cocktail Hour before another Kentucky Derby party — and some beautiful gardens (details to come) — this coming weekend. Fun stuff! As always, thanks for stopping by.
Update: Gerald’s photographs have been published here. A better set than mine, IMHO — well done.
[...] Have a look at the gallery and buy a print or two, especially if you’re in one. Also see Giles’ gallery, linked through his blog. [...]
