Site Theme Redux (Updated)
Updated 4x. This past weekend, I spent some time updating the site’s “look,” with a new theme and, especially, bigger photographs in the posts themselves.
It’ll be a few days — even a week or two — before all of the kinks are worked out, so please forgive if things are a little wonky. Indeed, I may even change the theme to something else [similar —Ed.], as there are one or two items with this one that are wearing on me quickly.
Makes me realize just how far web design has come; now, there are so many great foundations to start with that doing something from scratch is unrealistic. That said, while there are a ton more features available, it doesn’t necessarily take less time — those features bring details that have to be set just right to work properly.
Update, 4/21: Phillip pointed out that there currently isn’t a RSS link on the pages, so I added it to the right sidebar, at the bottom. Thanks, Phillip!
Update 2, 4/21: Changed the front page’s posting style to include all of the current posts’ content, not just excerpts. (If this is your first visit under the new design, squint at the illustration that accompanies this article, and note that it’s different than the site currently looks….)
If anyone else notices something not working, or would like anything added, please leave a comment on this post. Much appreciated.
Update 3, 4/23: Definitely going to change the theme again, not only to a different layout, but also back to a white background instead of black — stay tuned for another big change in the next couple of days. Thanks for your patience.
Update 4, 4/24: New theme active. I definitely prefer the white background, and feel that this one’s going to work on more levels than the previous attempt. Not as dramatic, sure, but more in keeping with what I’ve been trying to do. More tweaking coming over the next couple of days, meaning more little changes; I’ll update this post once more when I’m done. [For now. — Ed.]
In the meantime, and as always, thanks much for stopping by, reading these posts, following on into the galleries, and buying a print or two!
I feel your pain, brother. I’m going through the same issues…
