Great Cap to a Looooong Week
Update, Monday 6 Apr: Finally, finally got to the parade photographs this afternoon, only to be besieged with some sort of “unsupported image format” error. For cryin’ out loud — it’s always something. Back ASAP.
To call it a long week would be an understatement; aside from being sick last weekend, which completely upended the to do list, I overdid it Monday and wound up spending a good chunk of Tuesday back in bed.
Not all of it, though, as I was up in time to work more than thirty of the next 48 hours on revisions for the Cornell project I spoke of recently. I even had to miss this weeks’ Cocktail Hour. Hmph.
In fact, I’ve spent the majority of my time in the past few weeks laying type over photographs rather than taking them. [For the record: not complaining at all. —Ed.] More on that soon.
Yesterday was clean-up, and this weekend was — is — about first getting out from behind the desk, then finishing up the back items and, at long last, getting to posting the rest of the Cherry Blossom parade photos.
Today — Saturday, 4 April — was a gorgeous spring day, and there was no way I was going to spend it behind the desk; I’m sure Gerald and I both enjoyed and appreciated a photostroll, out and about beautiful Middle Georgia.
Starting in the Forsyth town square, which looks very different without the trees. (When we were there last January, there were trees — check the Forsyth gallery, photographs 5 through 7.)
Framed, then and now, with a slightly different focus:

Courthouse Window
From there, we traveled up US 41 to Barnesville, where we discovered the open…:

Gateway to Heaven
Next up was Upson County, a few miles west, where yet another town square awaited:

The CSA Soldier and the Hero Courthouse, Thomaston
However, the photograph that I’m pretty sure is my favorite shot of the day happened very near to the end of our journey. On the way back to Macon, driving through the tiny town of Yatesville, I spied an abandoned building opportunity, and applied a quick U-turn — in order to appreciate being…:

Open to the Sky
A fantastic release from the desk’s chains, to the tune of 100+ miles around Middle Georgia. Thanks, Gerald.
Tomorrow and Monday, I hope to finally finish up the Cherry Blossom Parade photos — I’ll develop the rest of the photos from this weekend afterward, I promise…;)
Your patience is appreciated.

Yes, a good time. You have some good stuff here. We have a similar photo in Forsyth through the frame.

Thomaston, not Thomasville.
Guess I had “villes” on the brain — thanks for the correction, Gerald. Nice photographs.
And thank you, too, Calvin! It was a great ‘stroll — glad it shows.
