Snow!

Update: Full gallery posted — enjoy. Sorry that I still haven’t posted the Cocktail photographs from last week; been hugely busy. And no, that’s an apology, not a complaint…!

“Winter weather” here in Macon is most often limited to a few weeks of cold; it’s very unusual — although certainly not unprecedented — for it to snow.

Today, for almost seven hours, it snowed in Macon.

So, instead of posting up Cocktail photographs, I’m outside taking more than a hundred additional photographs.

I couldn’t go far. In fact, I stayed in my back yard — it was a heavy, wet snow that coated the camera body and lens within a few minutes of stepping outside. Worse, the little 35mm f2 didn’t like focusing up close once it cooled off. So it was a surprise to get fifteen or so I like.

Like this one, of the GTI:

Even the car’s seen snow on its driveway more recently than I have. Sheesh…;)

Check out this poor guy:

Forlorn Flower

Looks cold. As does this, while simultaneously making even a garage, some lawn, and lots of limbs into a thing of beauty:

By the time it turned back to rain, we had more than an inch of accumulation in some places. The sky is clear now (~11pm), the temperatures are dropping, and ice is expected to be trouble in the morning — practically everything is closed. [Just as well; driving in icing conditions is never a good idea. —Ed.]

Sure looks pretty, though, as shown here in the waning light:

Will post up the rest of these and the photographs from Cocktail Hour in the next day or two. Thanks — and stay warm!
