Misc.
I’ve gotten questions this week regarding what I mean when I refer to “a slightly different focus.”
Delighted to illustrate. Starting with a photograph that … doesn’t suck, actually:
The Nuts and Bolts (of a Garden Ornament)
Good composition, nice shadows, the bits of green are a plus, etc. Almost — almost — suggests a sense of something flying over a landscape. [Click for a larger version. —Ed.]
It’s a cool item, too — from Abacus, a small chain of art stores in Maine.
But: I had to force myself to shoot this particular thing this way, just to illustrate this post. (In fact, I took it several days later than the photograph below, after careful consideration of how I wanted to take it — sorry to be a geek.)
Why? Glad you asked.
Here’s the way I usually look at such things:
The Nuts and Bolts (of Flight)
Not exactly, well, normal. [Again, click for a larger version. —Ed.]
When you’re a photographer, people ask you what your specialty is constantly. If I had to describe mine in one sentence — not an easy thing — I’d have to go with:
Capturing the details that make the bigger picture.
Pun intended.
On another front, I’ve been spending the weekend backing up and upgrading the big computer. My recent life, reduced to a few, measly things:

That excludes the photography, which backs up separately. One and three-quarter million items. Holy cow!
And, a bonus. From the “unexpected take-along” category:

Kitty for Coffee
The kitty who favored Starbucks is featured as part of my Cats gallery. Enjoy.
The camera took me to Jarrell Plantation and the Juliette Dam this weekend, which I’ll post on soon. Thanks for checking back.
