Catching Up, Part Four
Finally, almost current: photographs from a trip this past weekend along the Flint River, near Albany, Georgia.
In the spirit of “a slightly different focus,” let me get my favorite shot out of the way immediately:

Canoes (with Grass)
Yeah.
Meanwhile, there was much more to the trip — including a better-than-amazing campground the second night, next to an abandoned railroad bridge over the Flint:

Flint Railroad Bridge #6
Together, we estimated the structure’s age at 80-90 years. However, it’s been unused long enough that all traces — and I mean all — of the rail bed on either side of the bridge were gone. Interesting.
But the real essence of the trip wasn’t the campground, but the canoeing:

Fishing (the Flint)
Many thanks to Phillip, who is always behind the great nature trips; Ryan and Thomas, whom I also enjoyed Providence Canyon with a couple of months ago; and everyone else — including some great dogs along for the ride. (Important to me, as I’m usually not a dog person.)
Check out the entire gallery — 31 photographs total — here.
Oh, and a bonus:

(Ingredients for) Camping in the South
While I can handle some whiskey, firearms are unusual for me. Glad things were dealt with safely. (And that, Peewee aside — LOL — there wasn’t any need for guns…;)
Update: Phillip’s take is now online, too.
