More Detours — and a Maine Preview

More Detours — and a Maine Preview

Let me please lead off with an — or, should I say, another — apology for taking so long. Since getting home from Maine, absolutely nothing has gone according to plan.

Well, in reality since long before that … but that’s another story. (Which I might even share someday…;)

Meanwhile, visible progress on the house has slowed as we’ve dealt with added problems and, especially, rain delays. The gallery has been updated twice since my last post here, including a note on how short the supply chain is in home building and remodeling — this piece of material is a month old:

Flooring, Dated 09-03-2009

Wow.

No? How about something a little older, the roof from the now-defunct carport (yeeeeeay!). Celebrate some interesting texture:

Corregated Carport Roof

More in the gallery, which will continue to be updated from time to time.

What folks have been waiting for — even asking for, in more than one case — are some photographs from Maine. I’m going to be stingy for a while yet; there’s a huge collection between this year’s and last. Further, I’m working on a book, and believe it or not, that makes a difference on where a photograph will be posted. More on that soon.

So, what do you expect of a Maine trip:

Mr. Lobster (is Steamed)

Yeah, I ate him. Moments later, in fact.

Generally, however, I prefer sights no less iconic, perhaps, but certainly more out of the mainstream. Like this:

The Seagull’s (Perfect) Perch

The highlight of the trip this year was another trip, this time at sea:

Schooners, Sailing from Camden

I was on one called the Grace Bailey, and enjoyed it, the captain and crew’s hospitality, and my fellow passengers’ company, very much indeed. None together as a group more than this moment of sunshine, though:

Great Company (Onboard)

Caught this moment on Sunday, back in Camden, after spending the morning in the fog — that is, like that fog, down there:

The View from Mount Battie, Looking East

The balance are from all over Maine, including the yearly home-base of Ogunquit. This, one of the four five-star photographs I’ve found so far — fantastic! — is one of my favorite ever:

Cairn #2, Double-Focus (Ogunquit)

These are posted in a gallery, if you’d like to see ’em larger. They’re even captioned.

Where some of the rest from Maine are going, and more samples, soon. As always, thanks for stopping by.
